Oklahoma Sooners fans are buzzing after the team fired offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, putting the program at a crossroads just as the season heats up. Instead of handing the reins to veteran coach Kevin Wilson, the Sooners have made the bold move to let Jason Witten—legendary tight end and current tight ends coach—call plays on Saturdays, raising questions about how his high school head coaching experience will translate to the high-stakes SEC environment. Rumors swirl as the search for a permanent offensive coordinator ramps up, with names like Northwestern’s Chip Kelly, Houston’s Slade Nagle, Illinois’ Barry Lunney, and even Florida State’s Mike Norvell in the mix. Will Oklahoma opt for a proven leader or take another chance on a rising star? The pressure is on to spark a more physical, balanced offense that meshes with Brent Venables’ vision and unlocks the true potential of the Sooners’ quarterbacks.
